Hanja: Week 2

Hanja: Week 2

Another week, another Hanja post! Who was doing it with me this past week? Did you find that first set of Hanja easy or hard? I guess I had a leg up on it, since when I was teaching myself a little bit of Chinese last year I had to learn those characters for the numbers 1 to 10 XD

This week we’ve got a few Hanja with waaaaay more strokes. Don’t let it daunt you though; I find 每 and 週 pretty fun to write!

Hanja: Week 2

Hanja:
每 / 매 / each, every
時 / 시 / time, o’clock
半 / 반 / half
分 / 분 / divide; minute
水 / 수 / water
金 / 금, 김 / gold, money; Kim (family name)
週 / 주 / revolve, cycle; week
曜 / 요 / day (of the week)
火 / 화 / fire
木 / 목 / tree
間 / 간 / space between; relation(ship)
土 / 토 / earth, soil

Notes:
When time is written by the use of hanja, remember to read the hours with the native Korean pronounciation and the minutes with Sino-Korean. So for example, 十二時 is read as 열두 시, not as 십이 시, while 十八分 is read as 십팔 분.

Examples:
每日 – 매일 – every day
時間 – 시간 – hour, time
Sunday
Monday
Tuesday
Wednesday
Thursday
Friday
Saturday
30 minutes
每月 一日 – 매월 일일 – the first day of every month
Every Tuesday afternoon Peter goes swimming with his friends

Stroke Order:

Hey Taliana! Great blog on the Korean Language and Hanja!!

I am not sure, but there is a campaign on the Korea Tourism Organization Website www.visitkorea.or.kr (i think on the international english page) where they are featuring blogs on Korea.
Maybe you wanna check it out.
  • Nice to see your new blog Taliana! I've linked to it in mine ^^

I do hope you continue your hanja series. You might find my own little series helpful as well: http://koreanselfstudyisntlame.blogspot.com/search/label/%ED%95%9C%EC%9E%90

Hi! :D This batch is pretty easy for Japanese learners as well, like me--I think the hard part about it is that I tend to mix up the pronunciations for hanja and kanji! T-T
